The primary goal was to address the shortage of playgrounds in the Hāwea area and provide a safe and engaging space for local children and families.
The new McPhee Park playground was developed to meet a growing need for recreational spaces in Hāwea Flat. A collaborative effort between the Hāwea Community Association, QLDC, and local leaders, the project aimed to create a vibrant, inclusive space for children and families to enjoy.
Tucked into the reserve at the corner of Loach Road and Long Grass Place, this new playground is packed with fun. From climbing structures and swings to a speedy roundabout and bike track. There’s plenty of space to play, relax, and enjoy the fresh air, with shaded spots and seating for parents to kick back while the kids burn off some energy.
Its successful opening marks a meaningful step in strengthening community connections and enhancing local amenities.
