Project Update: From Concrete to Pour’N’Play at Raumati South School

Project update: The finish line is in sight at Raumati South School. The outdoor learning space is now 95% complete, with only the final touches left before handover this week.

This update is all about the surface. A playspace is shaped as much by what is underfoot as by what stands on it, and the right surface can change a space completely. Where there was once hard, flat concrete, there is now flowing Pour’N’Play in soft, natural tones, with gentle humps and bumps that invite tamariki to move, explore, and slow down. The timelapse below shows that change as it happened, from a bare slab to a warm, sculpted landscape built for learning and connection.

That difference comes down to attention to detail. Every colour zone, every curve, and every transition is laid by hand to a standard that holds up for years of play. It is the kind of care that does not always show in a single photo but is felt the moment children step onto the space.

Build Stats

• Total project area: 682 m²
• Pour’N’Play surfacing now 95% complete, with the final resin pebble zones being laid
• Kāpiti Island mound installed, surfaced, and complete
• Eight 3D Pour’N’Play rocks placed and installed
• Four Pour’N’Play balance balls installed
• High stepping logs installed
• Bench seating in place, with curved orange and straight purple and blue seats being fixed in final position
• Site tidy and handover this week
