A new buzzing destination playground in the heart of the Wellington Botanic Garden.
The Botanic Garden playground has been a landmark in Wellington for many years, but the time has come to upgrade the space to be more inclusive and give it a fresh look.
The surrounding beehives and their role in revitalising local fauna and flora shaped the new playground’s bespoke design, which tells a story through play.
With features like a beehive tower and pollination station, children can immerse themselves in the wonders of nature.
Inspired by Māra hūpara, natural elements connect children to the environment, blending cultural heritage with the Botanic Garden’s commitment to conservation and education.

Bringing the Timaruvian Story to Life Through Play
In Timaru, the CPlay community group had a vision—a playspace that celebrates the Timaruvian story while creating a space for families to connect and play. Working alongside contractors and the community, we helped bring this vision to life, taking their ideas and elevating them into a vibrant, storytelling playspace.
What makes this project unique?
Story-driven design: Every feature of the playspace was crafted to reflect Timaru’s history, culture, and identity, creating a space that feels uniquely theirs.
Collaborative planning: By working closely with the CPlay community group, all contractors helped refine their ideas, ensuring the design was as impactful and meaningful as possible.
Next-level execution: From concept to completion, enhancing the design and creating a space that inspires connection, creativity, and pride.
